I have an idea about promotion using Facebook:
1. Search on 'vegetarian' under Activities and then on Interests. These are people who have explicitly stated that they are vegetarian. Repeat this step for: muslim, sikh, hindu, buddhist, vegan, organic, etc.
2. Send a personalised message to everyone who comes up, inviting them to join the group. Bear in mind that searches are limited to your regional network, so there won't be that many (I had ten for 'vegetarian').
I don't think that this is spamming, but it might be bordering on it. Any thoughts?
