I went round to someone's house today and was offered some doughnuts. I politely turned them down because they had jam in them, and as everyone knows it probably isn't vegetarian jam. However, I was then ambushed with the offer of some ring doughnuts instead and stuffed my face with two of them.

It was only when I got home that my other half pointed out that they are probably made using eggs, which mean battery farmed eggs.

Yet of course there wasn't an ingredients label on the pack because they were bought from the bakery... where apparently supermarkets think that ingredients aren't important.

I am a terrible vegetarian, which is why I desperately need improved labelling!
