The term "dietary minorities" is one that I would like to bring into general circulation. Although I am no fan of politicial correctness, by bringing together all of the disparate dietary groups under one label, our collective voice will be much stronger. Hopefully we can look forward to the days when eateries are frowned upon for failing to adequately cater for dietary minorities.
At this moment there is a single use of this term on the Internet from 2004 (according to Google). There are slightly more appearances for "dietary minority", with 11 entries in Google (although 3 are from one site). I would ask members to try to use the term in conversation, emails, forum postings and letters to papers so that it moves into common useage. It will be very intreresting to see how quickly we can spread this term, and to see just how much impact a single phrase can have. |

I tend to talk about 'minority consumers' or 'a consumerist minority'This way, it includes everyone who is a consumerist minority, regardless of their reason for being so - whether it be religious (hindus, etc) , ethical (for vegans), dietary, allergy, or for some other unique reason. |
