Consumer Campaign Targets Restaurants And Pubs
A consumer campaign targeting restaurants and cafes was launched today in Bristol. Label My Food is seeking a dramatic improvement in the level of information provided on menus.
“It is about time restaurant owners caught up with the modern age” stated the campaign founder, Anthony Butcher. “Consumers want to know what’s in their food and where it comes from.”
“We represent a diverse range of groups who just want to know what they are eating, including food lovers, allergy sufferers, people concerned about animal welfare, environmentalists, various faith groups, vegetarians and vegans. The more people that join, the more effective we will be.”
“Our members want to be able to make informed choices about what they are eating. They want to know whether the food contains ingredients that will make them ill, is the meat free-range, does the restaurant use British produce where possible, is the cheese vegetarian, and so on.”
“This is about significantly improving the customer experience.”
“Better food labelling in restaurants, pubs, cafes and take-aways is inevitable in the long run. The supermarkets are storming ahead at the moment and it is time for restaurants to catch up.”
“Label My Food is here to help and encourage restaurant owners make the switch.”
